Main Reading: Leviticus 1–7
Theme: Drawing Near to God Through Sacrifice
Messianic Focus: Yeshua as the Perfect Offering Who Opens the Way to God
🌿 Overview
After God gives Israel the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן) — His dwelling place — the very next question is:
How does a sinful people draw near to a holy God?
The answer is found in the korbanot (קָרְבָּנוֹת) — the offerings.
קָרְבָּן — Korban
- Pronounced: kor-BAHN
- Meaning: “Offering,” but literally “that which draws near.”
- Root: קָרַב — karav — “to approach, come close.”
The korbanot are not empty rituals.
They are God’s gracious gift that makes relationship and worship possible.
This portion teaches five major offerings, each with its own purpose and meaning.
🌿 Key Scriptures
| Offering | Scripture | Purpose |

🌿 Messianic Connection
The New Testament does not replace the offerings —
It reveals their meaning in Messiah.
Yeshua is the fulfillment of every korban:
- Olah (Burnt Offering):
His total obedience and self-surrender to the Father (Phil. 2:8). - Minchah (Grain Offering):
His perfect, sinless life offered as a pleasing aroma. - Shelamim (Peace Offering):
He is our peace, reconciling us to God (Eph. 2:14). - Chatat (Sin Offering):
“He became sin for us” (2 Cor. 5:21). - Asham (Guilt Offering):
Isaiah 53:10 — Messiah is the asham, the guilt offering.
Through Messiah:
- We draw near with confidence
- We are forgiven and cleansed
- We live in continual fellowship with God
- We become living offerings (Romans 12:1)
🌿 Moral and Spiritual Application
This portion teaches that:
- God provides a way to draw near — we don’t invent our own way.
- Worship involves sacrifice, gratitude, obedience, and love.
- Sin breaks relationship; sacrifice restores it.
- Peace with God leads to fellowship and joy.
- Messiah’s sacrifice calls us to live sacrificially toward God and others.
We are invited into a life of continual surrender and grateful worship.
